Lana Zueva

A contemporary Australian artist based on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Working primarily in oil, her paintings explore the relationship between emotion, space and stillness. While her career began with highly detailed portraiture and figurative work, her artistic practice has gradually evolved towards quieter, more minimal compositions inspired by Zen philosophy and contemporary interior design.

This evolution reflects a belief that art should not compete with a space — it should complete it.

Her paintings are held in private collections throughout the world. Lana holds a Diploma of Art and has been recognised as a finalist in several art awards.

The Journey to Stillness

Art has been part of her life for as long as she can remember.

As a child, Lana carried paper and pencils everywhere she went, filling page after page with drawings.

She grew up in a family where art was deeply loved. Her parents made sure their home was filled with art books, magazine reproductions of great masters, and visits to galleries whenever they had the chance. They often put their own needs aside so they could bring more art into their children’s lives, passing on a love of creativity that would stay with Lana forever.

Her uncle, a children’s book illustrator, also had a lasting influence. While posing for his illustrations, Lana would quietly sketch beside him. One day he looked through her drawings and told her she should attend art school. Later that year, at just ten years old, she was accepted into one, beginning the classical training that laid the foundation for her career.

Today, Lana’s paintings are inspired by that lifelong connection to art, creating works that bring a sense of calm, balance and quiet beauty into contemporary interiors.

The Evolution of My Work

Simplifying because she can — not because she has to.

Years spent mastering portraiture and realism gradually gave way to a desire for simplicity — not because less is easier, but because creating calm requires confidence, restraint and intention.

It is what happens with great artists: the work often becomes quieter over time, not louder. Behind every minimal composition in the Zen Collection sit years of experience painting detailed, realistic portraits and figurative work — a discipline that still guides every line she draws today.

Today, that journey continues through the Zen Collection, where every painting reflects the belief that beauty often lives in what is left unsaid.

Why I Paint

I don’t paint to fill empty walls.
I paint to create spaces that feel different.

A painting has the ability to influence a room in subtle ways. It can soften light, quiet the eye and invite us to pause, even if only for a moment.

That quiet moment matters.

In a world that encourages us to move faster and consume more, I choose to create work that asks nothing from the viewer except to slow down.

This is what inspires every collection I create. Not trends. Not fashion. Not decoration. Simply the belief that beautiful spaces have the power to shape how we live, how we feel and how we connect with ourselves and the people around us.

If one of my paintings brings a sense of peace each time you walk past it, then it has already done everything I hoped it would.
